Clean Master Bedroom Headboard and Footboard

Today:     We are going to begin working through the Master Bedroom.  Clean the head/footboards of your bed thoroughly.

Find a Place Out of Reach for Matches

Today:    Make sure all matches are out of reach of small fingers.  Keep them in specific places so they are returned to secure locations and casual use doesn't leave them unattended.

Garage Work Bench

Today:    We are finishing up the organization of the garage.  Tackle the workbench and tool area, cleaning out and cleaning up until it is functional and useful again.

West Wall of Garage

Today:    Tackle the west wall of the garage.  Find "homes" for all oversized, useful items so they can be returned easily when unneeded.

South Wall of Garage

Today:    Tackle the south wall of the garage.   Hang everything possible and label well so others can help you keep the garage clean and neat.

East Wall of Garage

Today:    Tackle the east wall of the garage.  Move everything out, sweep well, and place useful items neatly against the wall.

Clean North Wall of Garage

Today:    We are going to tackle each of the walls of the garage, discarding debris, sorting through and confining treasures in containers.  Sweep the floor near each wall and stack everything back in place.  Today, tackle the north wall.

(Yes, I know one of these walls has garage doors and so you can take that day off.)

Get/Update Fire Extinguisher for Home

Today:    Purchase a new fire extinguisher or update current one.  Hang near garage/kitchen entry.  This will allow is easy use inside the house or in the garage.

Shoe/Boot Area of Garage

Today:    Collect all the shoes and boots that will be stored in the garage.  Put them on shelving near the back door so they can be conveniently returned to their new "home" by all shoe wearers.

Clean Bike Area of Garage

Today:     Decide about the bikes.  Hang if desired.  Purchase bike rack, if room.  Or, clean floor and put down duct tape lines to show where to park.

Clean Tool Wall of Garage

Today:    Time to conquer the wall areas of the garage.  Today:  Hang up the garden tools.

Clean Out Middle of Garage

Today:    Gather smaller, useful items and confine them in labeled containers/boxes.  When the garage is more organized, these boxes will be stacked along a wall.

Today:    Time to tackle the garage.  We are going to spend several days working on different areas.  Today, gather all the trash in the middle of the floor and discard it.

Clean Linen Cupboard

Today:    Clean out children's bathroom linen closet.  Discard useless, share useful but not needed, organize useful and needed items.  Use dividers to confine smaller items conveniently.

Deep Clean Floor/Baseboards

Today:    Time to get down on our knees (oh, the joy of  pair of knee pads for such jobs) and give the children's bathroom floor a good scrub.  Take time to clean those baseboards, too.

Clean Bathroom Walls

Today:    Clean the walls of the children's bathroom with warm, soapy water.  Start at the bottom and work up to avoid streaks.

Clean Out Under Sink

Today:    Clean cupboard under children's bathroom sink.  Purchase/gather containers to confine smaller items for more convenient storage.

Today:    Clean out the children's bathroom drawers and cupboards.  Discard, replenish, and organize as needed.

Post Summer Chore Chart

Today:   Post the Summer Chore Chart to initiate discussion, explanations, and clarifications.  Family members who know "why" are often more willing to be obedient.   In addition, they may have suggestions to make that will create a cooperative atmosphere during summer chore time.
